PATI (Pennsylvaina Training Institute) 2009
Several individuals from the Snyder County Chapter were privileged to recently attend the Pennsylvania Training Insitute held at nearby Bucknell University.
Classes included, Services to the Armed Forces, Disaster Services, Blood Services, Health and Safety Programs, International Instructor's class, Financial Development and much more.
With many of these classes being taught on a very limited basis, nationally, having the Institute so close to home is a blessing. The members of the PATI Training Committee would like to thank aAPARCE and the Northeast PA Blood Services Region for their sponsorship of the event as well as everyone from Bucknell University who made the Institute possible.
Every wonder how the American Red Cross is able to feed the large crowds following a disaster?
While we often partner with other agencies who prepare and serve the meals, on other occasions, the DISASTER KITCHEN is used.
This self-contained vehicle allows volunteers to prepare and serve meals, and due to it's mobility, it can be moved from location to location as needed. The Disaster Kitchen in the photo is a fully self contained 28-foot trailer, designed to daily produce 5000 hot "home-style" meals within heavily impacted disaster areas.
